In the past I had always waited until I had a litter of puppies born and they were at least a week old and then I would take deposits to reserve the puppies. I had always told people that were inquiring about puppies to contact me again at a certain time when a litter was due to be born and sometimes they did not contact me at the time I had mentioned and then when they did contact me the puppies had already all been reserved and they were disappointed. For this reason I am now going to be taking deposits on future upcoming litters. I have found that most responsible breeders do it this way.
The deposit will guarantee you a puppy from a future litter within the next six months, and in some cases the wait will be shorter. Puppy waiting times may be longer if you are set on a certain sex.
There really is no difference in training or temperament from male to female when you have them spayed/neutered at five to eight months of age. This is a mandatory requirement with every puppy that I place. I only place my puppies on CKC non-breeding contracts unless previous arrangements have been made between myself and the purchaser.
People will be contacted in the order in which they have paid a deposit and according to the sex they have reserved. If you are contacted and the timing does not work then your deposit can be placed on a future litter that will be ready at a later date if that is what you would like to do.
If you are set on a certain sex and the litter arrives and there is only one sex or not enough of a certain sex your deposit will go to the next available litter. Also if the litter does not survive your deposit will go to the next available litter.
Please remember all deposits are non refundable if you simply change your mind or find a puppy somewhere else.
For this reason please make sure this is the breed for you and that you have done complete and thorough research on the breed and that you are willing to wait for a puppy to be available before you reserve and pay a deposit on a future puppy as once again all deposits are non refundable. Also please make sure that you can be here when I inform you of the weekend for puppy pickups after the litter is born and also the time I specify to you for your new puppy pickup. If you are unavailable at the time we discuss and you do not make previous arrangements with me you will be charged board on the puppy from the date the puppy was ready to leave until the puppy is picked up here. I sometimes have plans and I may have to pay someone to watch the puppy if previous arrangements have not been made with me about the puppy. The puppies are usually ready to go at eight weeks of age so you will have eight weeks to prepare with getting all the needed supplies and the time needed to make arrangements to be here on the puppy pickup date at the specified time. I try to have a life (once in a while) and sometimes am going away etc so expect people to be punctual and on time for puppy pickups. Nothing makes a worst first impression with me than a puppy purchaser being late, this drives me nuts. I always book my appointments at a specific time for puppy pickups and try to allow a certain amount of time to go over information and fill out paperwork and answer all questions etc. If you are late everyone suffers. You will have to wait until the end of my appointments if others are on time for their appointments as I feel that is the fair way to do pickups. I will not make people that are on time wait because of one late person. You are the one that is late so others shouldn't have to wait when they are on time. If there are certain times you are not available please make sure I know these. We will try to accommodate but sometimes it is impossible and a different date will have to be set up. I do understand sometimes something comes up at the last minute that is beyond our control but please do contact me about this immediately.
There are three cases when a deposit will be refunded:
1. Your deposit will be refunded if Sauder’s Kennel cannot fulfill the puppy request within the six month time frame.
2. If you have a puppy reserved and a health problem is detected with the puppy at the time of vet check here at Sauder's Kennel then you can either get your deposit back or your deposit can be forwared to a later litter.
3. Sauder's Kennel reserves the right to refuse placing a puppy with anyone they feel incompetent of properly caring for the puppy and that they feel is incapable of meeting the puppy's daily needs or that Sauder's Kennel feels is incapable of providing a safe and wonderful home for the puppy. This could be for a variety of reasons. Sauder's Kennel takes breeding and placing their puppies very seriously and will not place puppies with families they do not feel comfortable and happy with under any circumstances. Sauder's Kennel will decide this at the time of puppy pickup when meeting the prospective puppy adopters. In this case your deposit will be refunded.
Hopefully this explains my puppy reservation procedures. If you have questions please feel free to contact Sauder’s Kennel at kimberley.sauder@sympatico.ca
